I also have to agree with "wilcofilm" in regards to the damage the skid mat volition do to the vinyl. Of course similar all of us that have posted nearly it, I found out too late and my vinyl on both sides are ruined with a cloudy permanent film that cannot be removed. It is etched in like a tattoo. The sound quality is profoundly afflicted too as information technology sounds really deadened and whatever dynamics that were there before are gone. This goes for all skid mats that you might get with a new album. Remove information technology from the vinyl sleeve and keep it somewhere well away from your records. It does every bit much harm as those smelly PVC sleeves. This is as well known as "vinyl cancer" or "vinyl rot". Thankfully in that location is a reissue still in print for this not bad album.

Take the slipmat away from vinyl. It's gonna destroy your vinyl. "Some copies accept the comprehend artwork etched on Side I." This is incorrect. Information technology'south a discoloration caused by a slipmat.

After seeing 4 or 5 copies of this with the slipmat and scuffing on the one side, was able to finally notice i without a slipmat, and without the scuffing/racket issue. So, they are out there. For what it's worth, my copy is in the original compress and has what I'm assuming is the original price tag with a Yen symbol stuck to the shrink. ¥1580 with "King Kong" underneath, which was well-nigh 15 The states Dollars at the fourth dimension. In that location was never an original Japanese pressing of this album, then perhaps the ones Epic originally shipped to Japan did not accept the slipmat included? Regardless, the tape sounds great. Not quite on the same level as the self-titled original US pressing, but still a fantastic sounding pressing.

I just bought this original pressing but it merely came with one slipmat. So does information technology only come up with 1 slipmat?

I only opened a sealed copy and it has the same discoloration and surface noise as described by DjNude. The surface noise did not go away even later cleaning with my Okki Nokki. Also, I would add together that the volume is really low and I had to crank my amp quite a bit higher than I usually would. Overall, the sound is really skilful though and the surface noise was just apparent in a few of the silent parts and not as well distracting.

I have 2 copies of this album that I bought both brand new. One yet has the receipt from eleven-13-1999. Both copies come up with the slipmat. And I purchased the second copy sometime after.

Both copies also have some terrible surface noise. Information technology does not over take the loud music but you definitely hear it during the quiet passages between the songs and low book intros. No snap crepitation pop, but it just looks like a bad pressing. You tin can meet a discoloration on side 1 of both vinyl copies. Side 2 is not and so bad.

Does anyone else have a re-create like that?
